This website offers information relating to the law, processes, and services that make up family law in Nova Scotia. The website will help you understand your family law issue and provide the tools to navigate the options available to help solve your problem.
Nova Scotia Legal Aid has many free legal services to help adults and youth facing a range of legal issues. We may be able to help if you have problems with criminal law, family law and many areas of social justice and civil law such as CPP, Employment Insurance or Income Assistance.
The Maintenance Enforcement Program assists children and families by monitoring, enforcing and collecting spousal and/or child support payments specified in court orders and agreements.

The Legal Aid Commission offers a free outreach program to individuals to provide limited, confidential legal information or advice. The Outreach lawyer's role is only to provide advice and they cannot represent people in court.

When payments are not made on court orders or agreements registered with the Support Enforcement Program (SEP), collection action(s) will be taken. SEP has many collection tools available and may use one or more of these tools to achieve compliance on an order.
