Family duty counsel (FDC) are lawyers paid by Legal Aid BC to help people with low incomes deal with their family law issues, including child protection issues. If you have a family law issue, you might qualify for help from family duty counsel in Provincial or Supreme Court even if you don't qualify for a legal aid lawyer
Legal Aid can provide free advice and representation for people with family law and child protection issues. They give priority to people with low incomes, but many services are available to all British Colubians.

For the Sake of the Children is a supportive information program to help parents understand what they are going through during the separation, both legally and emotionally, and to learn more about the needs of their children.
The Law Phone-In & Lawyer Referral Program is a service of Community Legal Education Association and provides general legal information and advice, over the phone and through email, in response to callers’ inquiries. The Lawyer Referral Service helps people find a lawyer. The lawyer to whom a client is referred will provide a free initial consultation lasting up to half an hour.

Legal Aid Manitoba helps people who are financially eligible, by appointing a lawyer for them. Legal Aid helps with family matters like divorce, custody/access and child and spousal support. Legal Aid does not handle family property division.
